What I wish I could tell you about my Endo, part 1

If there was one thing I could make everyone aware of Endometriosis it would be that each and one of us experiences differently, as it can be anywhere in our bodies and it can also take many different forms and sizes.

If I could tell you more about it, I would also say:

  • Endometriosis is more than a period pain. It is a condition that stops you from living your life at times.

  • Endometriosis has no cure only management of symptoms

  • Endometriosis can be anywhere in your body (mine was in my bladder, bowel, overies and even diaphrame)

  • Endometriosis (in most cases) can be diagnosed by MRI scans, so it is worth first getting the scan before under going the laparoscopy treatment

  • Excision is the most efficient method to treat your endometriosis when undergoing an operation

  • Endometriosis can take over 8 years to be diagnosed (mine took 17 years) and can often be misdiagnosed as IBS or simply put ‘TOO EMOTIONAL WOMAN’

My endometriosis journey is a long and painful one, which ends well, as I get treatment which gives me new life and experiences. My endometriosis journey also involves a lot of grief and resilience.

Living with Endo is something we don’t get to choose and more studies are yet to be done on how women can be helped, after all, on avarage 1 in 7 women suffer with endometriosis and many continue to do it in silence. So it is time we stop the silence, raise awareness and support each other in the best way we can.
